Maureen Moore

Maureen is honored to teach voice lessons in association with 851 Music in Benicia. A Magna Cum Laude graduate of the University of Southern California, Maureen received her degree in Music and Vocal Performance. While performing throughout Southern California, she was awarded the Los Angeles Mayor's Performing Arts Award. She has also toured and performed in Europe and Israel. After moving to the Bay Area in 1992, Maureen performed in numerous musical theater productions with Diablo Light Opera including her favorite, EVITA. In 1999 she performed in the west coast premier of the musical version of BIG as "Mrs. Baskin."

Maureen opened her vocal and piano studio in Benicia, CA in 1995 after she discovered her passion for teaching at a Bay Area music school. Maureen's studio is warm, nurturing and filled with laughter. Beginning to advanced students learn vocal technique relevant to most genres of music. Lessons are tailor-made and focused around the goals of each student. Vocal technique, how to breathe for singing, performance practices, microphone technique, and ear training are among the things students learn. Her students particularly enjoy the opportunity to do recording at her studio. Students have been known to study with her for as long as 10 years--until they graduate from high school and some have garnered major recognition including large scholarships that have carried them through their college career. Others have been selected for admission to performing arts programs where only a few have been chose from many. Most recently singer, Anna DiFrancesco of Benicia, CA was chosen to perform at Carnegie Hall with some of the best high school musicians in the country.

Maureen is a Certified Speech Level Singing® teacher. Speech Level Singing®, Int'l teachers are rigorously trained and tested yearly. They must meet specific requirements and participate in extensive continuing education every year for annual re-certification. Click for Information about Speech Level Singing®
