Joshua Icban has been taking private guitar instruction 7 years ago. His relationship with the guitar began when on his twelfth birthday he received his very first guitar gift from his family. Ever since, he and the guitar have become inseparable. Josh feels a deep sense of connection with music and seeks to share it.
Joshua feels lucky to have had the mentorship J Shelby for the past 7 years and continues to study the guitar more intensely than ever. Josh has achieved a number of personal successes from his own personal instruction and now has an opportunity to share the special relationship of teacher and student from the teacher's point of view.
Joshua has played in a number of bands throughout the years. He began live performance as a member of his father's band playing various military veterans' events, birthday parties and other community and family events. While a student at Vallejo High, Joshua was active in the band program. He was a member of the jazz band, marching band and winter drum line. At the end of his senior year he was presented with the prestigious Louis Armstrong Award for excellence in jazz.
He's performed at local battle of the bands events and more recently at the Pista Sa Nayon festival at the Vallejo waterfront. Here is a link to that performance as well as one to a performance with The Yaks, a band fronted by Vallejo High history teacher Dave Lawson.

Joshua is profoundly enjoys teaching at the 851 Music Studio. His aim is to make the world more musical and to help his students find the key to unlock their own personal musical treasure chest. He feels music is an essential form of human expression which, in a way, causes people to eliminate their unnecessary feelings and just honestly be themselves.
